Now that he’s on hiatus from Dancing With The Stars and finished with his role in Broadway’s Burn the Floor, Maksim Chmerkovskiy is focusing on the future and the new love of his life. He recently spoke with Star Magazine about all that and more. Keep reading for more details…
Currently, Maksim is working on choreographing the Cirque du Soleil show, Le Reve, in Las Vegas. When asked if he was sad about his Broadway role ending he said, “It’s not sad; I’m very excited about my new projects. I’ve committed myself to Burn the Floor for longer than anything I’ve ever done because I love it and enjoy doing it so much. It’s an amazing show. The next 10 years they’re going on a world tour, and I’m really jealous.”
After he’s finished with Le Reve, Maksim plans on supporting a fellow contestant. “I’ll be going to Aspen for the X Games, to cheer on former Dancing contestant Louie Vito, my new best friend. And after that, I might go to South America for the Rainforest Foundation. I’m excited!”
So what has captured Maksim’s special attention these days? A new puppy. ‘Yes, he’s a 13-week-old English bulldog, all white and so cute. I named him Sir Sleepalot Chmerkovskiy,” he said. “I always thought it was funny how my dad was totally in love with his dog. But now I get it.”
