Real World: Things Heat Up In D.C.

January 02, 2010 11:00 AM by Britteny Elrick

I guess The Real World just won’t go off the air until MTV has filmed one in each and every city in the world. The popular reality TV show is back for a 23rd season, and this time the cast members are taking over the nation’s capital. Keep reading for more information on the new cast…

Eight new roommates have come together in Washington D.C. to pursue a wide variety of creative endeavors. This season, there are photographers, musicians, political cartoonists and Human Rights advocates all living under the same roof. The season premiere of Real World: DC was last Wednesday, and already sparks have started flying. If you missed the first episode, which included some rather explosive fights, you can watch it here.

According to the MTV press release, the cast members will be “swept up in the excitement of the new administration to serve and impact change, the roommates experience their own personal growth and life changes: a small town Texas girl realizes her dream; the jokester of the house has to get serious when it comes to love; a dysfunctional romance threatens to divide the house; and a young man learns that coming out is not only a personal choice but a political one as well.”

The cast members include: Emily, the one-time Christian fundamentalist; Ty, the econ-minded atheist; Ashley, the opinionista; Andrew, the pot-stirring cartoonist; Mike, the accidental activist (and jock-turned-bisexual); Callie the southern belle; Erika the singer-slash-drama queen; and Josh, the wannabe rock star.

I have watched the Real World faithfully for 23 years and I actually now have begun changing the channel to Toddlers and Tiaras or reruns of Jersey Shore….that’s pretty bad. Well, the show is pretty lame this season. It seems the past few seasons have been lame. No one on the shows have even been memorable enough for me to remember their names. I mean where are the Corals, Tanyas, Beths, or Robins at???

I look forward to the challenge show when all the old crazies come back… I think the spark is gone.
