The host from the first season of American Idol, Ryan Seacrest is back for season 9 and is as busy as ever. One would have to wonder how long he can keep it up. Ryan Seacrest is probably one of the most recognizable faces around the world thanks to his start on American Idol.
With his thriving broadcasting career and multiple ventures in media of which hosting American Idol is simply one, it’s no wonder why Ryan Seacrest is at the forefront of entertainment media. While hosting and producing multiple television and radio programs, building his Ryan Seacrest Productions banner (RSP) into a viable entity creating content for all media platforms, and investing in a myriad of restaurant ventures, Seacrest is redefining what it means to be an entrepreneur and a quadruple threat in Hollywood. Seacrest was bestowed a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work in radio. In 2006, 2007, and 2008 Seacrest was included in FORBES Magazine’s annual “Celebrity 100 Power List,†joining the likes of Tom Cruise, Oprah Winfrey and Tiger Woods.
Seacrest also reaches millions through the world’s most popular radio countdown show, American Top 40, which he took over from radio legend Casey Kasem. American Top 40 remains an institution in radio, and with Seacrest taking the reins, it broadcasts on more stations than ever before. Since his debut, the show has more than doubled its listenership, reaching approximately 500 stations worldwide, all in the top radio markets. Radio stations nationwide access the show via satellite or the Internet, ensuring the most up-to-the minute music chart information.
At the end of 2005, Seacrest signed a long-term deal to executive-produce and co-host Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, broadcast live from New York’s Times Square on ABC. Recently, ABC announced that Seacrest will continue to co-host and executive produce the newly titled program, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest. Also, Seacrest often serves as guest host of CNN’s prestigious news program, Larry King Live, with all episodes earning high ratings.
