Shear Genius, the Bravo reality show about cutting and styling hair, returns tonight for a third season. The show welcomes a brand new host, the Brazilian bombshell Camilla Alves who is most famous for having babies with Matthew McConnaughey, to replace Jaclyn Smith. A new host isn’t the only thing changing this season on Shear Genius. Keep reading to find out about the show’s big makeover…
As the Bravo show enters its third season, it’s hardly recognizable! In addition to the debut of Alves, the show has a new set, a new concept, a new mentor, a new judge, and is filming in a new locale. Phew! How’s that for a little change?
The only person returning to the series is judge Kim Vo who says, “I was the only one from season two!” Hair wizard Orlando Pita serves as a new Tim Gunn-esque mentor to the show’s competitors, replacing former mentor Rene Fris. Jonathan Antin, former star of another Bravo reality show, Blow Out, joins Vo on the judging panel. The rest of the judging this season will be done by celebrity guest judges such as Estelle, Jessica Simpon’s BFF, Ken Paves, and Tabatha Coffey, star of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover.
The 12 competing hair geniuses will challenge one another for the Shear Genius grand prize: $100,000, an apprenticeship with Nexxus, and a spread in Allure magazine.
The third season of Shear Genius premieres tonight at 10pm on Bravo.
