On last night’s episode of ABC‘s The Bachelor, fans were shocked to see front runner Ali leave the competition by her own choice. Choosing to leave the show in order to keep her job, Ali was clearly devastated by the decision, but she’s not the only one. The Bachelor speaks out about his own broken heart as he watched Ali “slip through his fingers.”
Viewers of the Bachelor were shocked by the final twist in last night’s episode on ABC when fan favorite (and seeming front runner) Ali chose to leave the reality competition. Given an ultimatum from her job, Ali was forced to choose between her career and a chance at love with pilot Jake Pavelka. Earlier in the episode, fans witnessed the two share an intimate hometown date in Williamstown, Massachusetts where Ali told Jake that she’d say yes if he proposed right then. Things changed though prior to the rose ceremony when Ali was told that she would need to make a choice between her job and Jake. “My heart crumbled when she told me her boss demanded her back at work. I didn’t actually think she would leave me,” Jake says.
The decision clearly wasn’t an easy one for either party involved. Hoping for some clarity, Ali stepped out of the rose ceremony to talk to Jake one-on-one. The Bachelor‘s host Chris Harrison says, “I lost track of time but it had to be at least two hours if not more.” Jake adds, “We talked about it for three hours that night while the poor women at the rose ceremony just waited….I felt like she wanted me to make the choice for her, but I couldn’t.”
After an emotional and difficult conversation, Ali finally made the decision to leave the show. “When she told me she was leaving, my heart stopped. I wish I could have had Mike Tyson punch me square in the jaw, because it would have felt so much better than what I feeling as I watched AliCat drive away that night,” Jake says.
Jake and Ali instantly hit it off on the reality dating show when she was given the first one-on-one date. Their chemistry only seemed to increase as the show continued. Harrison says, “There is no doubt in my mind that these two were falling in love with each other.”
The Bachelor is down to his final three ladies: Gia, Tenley, and Vienna (who is rumored to be the last one standing). Next week, they head to St. Lucia for romantic overnight dates but the previews show that Ali might not be gone for good. Tune in to find out what happens next!
