It looks like American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert might be making a very special appearance at this year’s Academy Awards. No, he won’t be showing up as a performer, but rather as someone’s date. Reports are circulating that a certain Academy Award-nominated actress (and longtime Lambert pal) wants the flashy rocker to accompany her to the star-studded affair. Keep reading for all the juicy details…
American Idol alum, Adam Lambert, could be adding the Oscars to the long list of award ceremonies he’ll be attending this year. Rumor has it that his old friend, Anna Kendrick, wants Lambert to be her date to the show. Kendrick, best known for her role in the Twilight movies and playing opposite George Clooney in Up in the Air, is nominated for a statue for best supporting actress.
American Idol host, Ryan Seacrest was the first person to report the news that Kendrick was considering taking Lambert to the awards gala when he tweeted, “Talked to @annakendrick47..shes been buds w/ @adamlambert since 18. She might take him to oscars..” It turns out that Seacrest was definitely right about one thing: these two celebrities go way back.
While on his radio show, Kendrick told Seacrest she and Lambert “saw each other at party about a year ago and he told me, ‘You can’t tell anybody but I tried out for American Idol and I got through Hollywood Week.’ I was like, ‘Okay! You can’t tell anybody but I just booked this movie with George Clooney!’ We didn’t see each other again for a year and finally we saw each other at the Critics’ Choice Awards and the SAG Awards. We were like, you know, it’s been quite a year for both of us.”
When asked if she would take Lambert to the Academy Awards show, Kendrick replied, “he’s a good time, he’s fun. He’s a really, really fun dude.†Lambert seems to be quite fond of the actress as well, wishing her well after her nomination on Twitter saying, “Congrats on your Oscar nom! Crazy! So, so proud.â€
The Academy Awards will air on ABC on March 7th.
