New American Idol judge, Ellen Degeneres, won’t be leaving the airwaves anytime soon. In addition to her new gig as judge on the Fox singing competition, Ellen has just inked a new contract with NBC that will keep her talk show on the air for three more seasons. Her new contract also rules out any possibility of her taking over for talk show heavy-hitter, Oprah Winfrey. Keep reading to find out more…

It’s been a good week for Ellen Degeneres. Her American Idol debut brought in nearly 28 million viewers, the second highest ratings this season, as the comedienne joined the judging panel for the first time during Hollywood Week. As if that’s not enough, it has just been announced that her daytime talk show has been renewed until 2014.

Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution has renewed The Ellen Degeneres Show for three more seasons, meaning the funny woman will stay on the air until 2014 with NBC. This news is particularly interesting after rumors have been swirling about the possibility of Ellen taking over for Oprah Winfrey on ABC when her contract is up next season.

“I’m so excited to sign on for three more years at NBC. They were the ones that believed in my show from day one,” Degeneres said in a statement. “So I’m thrilled to know I’ll be here till at least 2014. Things will be a lot different by then. I won’t be dancing over my coffee table anymore. Through the magic of 3-D, I’ll be dancing over yours.”

Degeneres signed a reported five-year contract with American Idol earlier this year so the comedienne will be quite busy in the early part of this decade, but I suppose there are worse things that getting paid millions of dollars to work not one, but two dream jobs. “I’m thrilled to be the new judge on American Idol. I’ve watched since the beginning, and I’ve always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I’ll save from not having to text my vote,” Degeneres said.
