Jillian Michaels, the tough trainer from NBC‘s The Biggest Loser, is being sued by an angry California dieter. Christie Christensen has filed a class-action lawsuit against Michaels claiming that she didn’t lose any weight using the supplements that The Biggest Loser star endorsed. The trainer calls the legal action “baseless” and is continuing to endorse the product…
Christie Christensen is filing a lawsuit against The Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels for false advertising. Christensen says she was tricked into buying a product called “Jillian Michaels Maximum Strength Calorie Control” after seeing the reputable trainer endorsing the weight-loss supplement. Christensen’s lawsuit claims that the product did not diminish the dieter’s appetite or help her to lose any weight as promised by the advertising.
The product includes the slogan: “Two Capsules Before Main Meals and You Lose Weight…That’s It!” The lawsuit states, ”Ms. Michaels knows better – taking two pills before eating does not miraculously cause weight loss.” Christensen claims she has always struggled with weight issues and purchased the product because of the endorsement by the The Biggest Loser trainer.
Jillian Michaels calls the lawsuit “baseless” and is outraged by the allegation. In a recent statement, she says that her reputation and credibility “are of utmost importance to me.” She is letting her legal team handle the case but in the meantime, The Biggest Loser star says she will continue to support the product. ”I stand behind all my products and remain committed to helping people achieve their health and wellness goals,” Michaels says.
The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages that could extend up to to five million dollars.
