New York Fashion Week kicked off last Thursday in the Big Apple and American Idol alum, Jordin Sparks, was among a handful of celebs chosen to hit the catwalk to model designer duds for a good cause. In an effort to raise money for the Heart Truth campaign, Sparks donned a gorgeous Badgley Mischka gown for The Red Dress Collection Catwalk Show on Thursday night.
Jordin Sparks joined the likes of actress Felicity Huffman, British pop star Estelle, Broadway starlet Kristin Chenoweth, Project Runway‘s Heidi Klum, and Keeping Up With the Kardashians‘ Kim Kardashian to raise awareness for women’s heart disease. The American Idol winner called her modeling experience the “scariest thing I’ve done in my life” saying she was “so nervous.” More nervous than she was while competing on American Idol? “I would much rather sing in front of 15,000 people, hands down,” the singer says. Despite her nerves, Jordin Sparks claims, “I had such a blast. I’ve always wanted to walk the runway and it was awesome. It was amazing.”
We’re glad to hear she’s not considering leaving her day job anytime soon but she did make a good impression on one tough critic: supermodel and Project Runway host Heidi Klum who said, ”All these women have never done runway and they get out there and strut their stuff. It’s fun and I love all the different fashion. This is not modeling with a runway walk and a mean face. It’s a different feeling. It’s goofy, funny and you ham it up.”
