Melissa Rycroft has had one heck of a year! Despite being dumped on national television by The Bachelor‘s Jason Mesnick last January, the Texas beauty went on to finish in third place on Dancing With the Stars, landed a couple of great jobs hosting for Good Morning America and Entertainment Tonight, and managed to find love with insurance agent Tye Strickland. The two tied the knot at a romantic beach ceremony in December and have finally found time to sneak away for a romantic honeymoon. Keep reading to find out all the details of their sexy Valentine’s getaway…
After rising to fame as a jilted bachelorette on The Bachelor, Melissa Rycroft won the nation’s affection by dancing her way to third place on the eighth season of Dancing With the Stars. Despite her demanding reality TV workload, the bubbly former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader found time for love with her good friend, Tye Strickland. The two married on December 12 at a picture-perfect ceremony Isla Mujeres, Mexico but their hectic schedules prevented them from enjoying a proper honeymoon…until now!
Two months after their nuptials, the newlyweds returned to Mexico for a romantic honeymoon getaway! The two spent Valentine’s Day at The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort near Puerta Vallarta and called it “absolutely perfect.” The former Bachelor reject says, “We appreciate the trip more since we had time between the wedding and the honeymoon. It has been absolutely perfect from the location to the hotel to the people to the ocean to the sunset,†Rycroft says, adding, “I don’t think we could have asked for anything more.â€
It seems as though the honeymoon isn’t the only thing worth bragging about. Marriage seems to suit these two lovebirds quite well also.  “I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world,” the former Dancing With the Stars tells In Touch about married life. Rycroft’s new husband agrees. “It’s the greatest thing ever,” Strickland says. “You get to share everything and know that no matter what, they are always going to stand by your side. I’ve learned to appreciate her more.â€
Now that the two have found love, do they have any plans for a family? “We have a lot going on right now,†Rycroft says. “Tye just opened his business, and work is going pretty well for me. I think we want to be selfish for as long as possible and just have the two of us until we hit the point where we are 100 percent ready. Right now, we’re on the three-to-five-year plan.â€
