Fans of ABC‘s The Bachelor were disappointed when front-funner, Ali Fedotowsky left the competition to return to her career, but soon they’ll be able to watch her search for love again as The Bachelorette. ABC announced on Monday that Ali will star on the next season of The Bachelorette which airs May 24th. Ali dishes about why she chose to do the show, what she thinks about Jake and Vienna’s relationship, and what’s going on with her career…
From fighting with fellow bachelorette, Vienna, to leaving the show on her own accord (then trying to return a week later), Ali Fedotowsky certainly added her fair share of drama to ABC‘s most recent season of The Bachelor. Through it all, Ali had fans rooting for her all season long so it only makes sense that she be named The Bachelorette. Now Ali will have a second chance at love with 25 eligible suitors.
When asked why she chose to accept ABC‘s offer to be The Bachelorette, Ali said, “[On The Bachelor] I had real feelings that I didn’t expect to have. I thought this will be a fun experience and I might meet someone great. I believe in it and I believe I can find someone. I’m just a romantic.”
During The Bachelor, Ali was forced to choose between love and her career. Ultimately, she chose her job, leaving the show during the hometown dates episode when she had already made it to the top four. Naturally, fans are curious where her career stands presently since she’ll need to take at least six weeks of to film The Bachelorette. “I had to leave my job. [Monday] was my last day. It was a really tough decision. At the end of the day, I don’t want to look back on my life and say there was this opportunity to meet a great guy and take that risk and I didn’t take it because I was scared, which is the same reason I didn’t take the risk with Jake and I don’t want to make that mistake again. So I’m just going to go for it. I hope it works out,” Ali says.
Although fans are shocked that Jake Pavelka chose (and proposed to) Vienna, the contestant everyone (including Ali) loved to hate, Ali isn’t so surprised by the outcome. “I understand why he picked Vienna. He has a lot of fun with her. [On the show] I saw him act more with her like he acted with me — relaxed, laid back, having fun. I believed the whole season long it was Vienna,” Ali says.
So does that mean Ali doesn’t regret choosing her career over her relationship with Jake? “When I see that he ended up with someone, I think I made the right choice. I’m happy for him. He’s engaged and happy and I hope it works out for him because I want to have faith in my own journey,” The Bachelorette says. Her journey begins on May 24th on ABC.
