American Idol season 8 finalist, Scott MacIntyre, won the adoration of fans for his amazing piano-playing abilities and his inspiring personal story. The first legally blind contestant in the history of American Idol, MacIntyre finished in eighth place in the competition. Now he’s returning to the American Idol stage with fellow finalist, Matt Giraud, for a show-stopping duet…
American Idol alum, Scott MacIntyre will be returning to the FOX competition’s stage next week for a duet with fellow season 8 finalist, Matt Giraud. The pair will appear on the show on March 11th to perform Billy Joel’s Tell Her About It. “I’m really excited. It’s one of my favorite Billy Joel songs, and it allows me and Matt to banter back and forth as if we’re trying to show each other up,” MacIntyre says. In addition to dueting in song, the two will also duke it out on the piano. ”I think it’s going to be a surprise for everyone watching,” MacIntyre says about their dueling pianos which was a highlight on this summer’s American Idol tour.
One thing that Scott MacIntyre is looking forward to about his American Idol performance? Not having to hear from the judges! ”It’ll be so much fun to be there; having gone through the experience, it’s like approaching it from a completely different direction. And the judges will not be allowed to comment, which will be great!” he jokes.
Not surprisingly, Scott MacIntyre‘s American Idol return coincides with the release of his debut album, Heartstrings, which is available on iTunes on March 11th. “I’ve poured my heart and soul into all 12 original songs, bringing something I hope people will find very rare in pop music today,†MacIntyre says. “What you won’t hear on my CD is an over-produced overly-sanitized sound. What you will hear are honest, believable songs delivered with solid conviction. I’ve stayed true to myself in every song.â€
As for the current season of American Idol, MacIntyre admits, “I’ve been following the show as much as I can” but he doesn’t think any cast can compare to the contenders featured on season eight. ”Everyone last year was very unique when you stack them up beside each other,” he says. “You had Allison and Adam with the rock edge, soul singers, bluesy vocalists, singer-songwriters … it was all over the place. This year is not as clearly defined, but season 8 was a rare group and I’m really privileged to have been a part of it.”
