So You Think You Can Dance choreographer, Mia Michaels, is continuing her reality TV run by starring in her own Bravo reality series! The network, which calls Michaels “the reigning queen of contemporary dance,” announced that the unique choreographer will be starring in her own docu-series in the next year. Keep reading for all the details on Michaels’ new endeavor…
Mia Michaels has long been a fan favorite on FOX‘s So You Think You Can Dance. Her choreographed works have been some of the show’s most memorable pieces, even landing her an Emmy, and her spunk and eccentricity have livened up the judging panel. Last year, Michaels announced she would be leaving FOX‘s So You Think You Can Dance to focus on other projects, which include three television series.
“All three of them are very different,” she said in November. ”One is a choreography show, one is a doc-reality show of a stage show that will be touring the states and the third one was inspired by a website called ‘Mia Michaels, Please Choreograph My Life.’” It’s now been made clear that one of those projects is being developed by Bravo.
Bravo hasn’t released too many details about the show yet, but according to the network, the yet-to-be-named reality series will follow Michaels as she “navigates through the world of professional dance.” Bravo also went on to call her work “personal, passionate, quirky, beautiful, challenging, uncompromisingly original.”
Despite Michaels’ announcement last October that she was leaving FOX‘s So You Think You Can Dance, the choreographer has reportedly been involved in the FOX show’s upcoming seventh season in some capacity. She was present for the New York City auditions on January 26th. Whether or not she’ll be returning to So You Think You Can Dance in a greater way is still a mystery. “We’ll see…I’m taking it day-by-day,” Michaels says about her future with the show. “[Nigel and I] have a great relationship and if it’s meant to be, it’ll be.”
