ESPN sportscaster, Erin Andrews, hasn’t been quiet about her desire to be a part of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars in seasons past, but when the producers offered her a spot on the upcoming tenth season, she wasn’t sure what to say. After enduring a very public battle with a peeping Tom who secretly videotaped her naked then posted the videos on the internet, Andrews was worried about the public’s perception of her if she chose to participate in the ABC dance competition. Deciding that she no longer wanted to be a victim, Andrews is strapping on her dancing shoes and gearing up to participate with partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, in hopes of getting her groove back. Keep reading for more on her brave decision…
For Erin Andrews, a 31-year old ESPN sportscaster, being offered a spot on ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars was a dream come true, but the timing couldn’t have been worse! She recently faced the man who stalked her and secretly filmed her naked and she was concerned that by choosing to participate in the ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars, people might get the wrong idea about her.
“My biggest concern was, what are people going to say? Will people say I was using this to get on the show?” Andrews says. After some thought, she decided not to let her past dictate her future and said yes to being a part of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars. “If I decide to hide because I’m worried what people will say about me, then what kind of an example am I?†she says. “I’m basically saying, ‘We’re victims. Let’s continue to be victimized.’â€
Now the star is ready to compete with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy on ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars‘s tenth season against competitors like Olympian Evan Lysacek and Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson. The ESPN star, whose sister is a professional dancer, considers herself a threat to the other contestants. “I grew up dancing. I danced in college,†Andrews says. “It’s not rare to see me put a routine on for my coworkers in the football stadium. I thought this was a great way to get my groove back.â€
