Tonight on an all new episode of The Biggest Loser on NBC, the contestants will have to focus on food for their challenges…well, that and working out with Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper. But as tragedy strikes one player, will that player be able to maintain control while away from the ranch? And will we see another loser hit a milestone this week? Keep reading for all the tasty details!
That’s right, this week they are shifting the focus on food on The Biggest Loser on NBC as for their very first challenge, they must compete in a pop trivia food challenge. The first team to correctly answer 3 questions wins the challenge and a prize: a 5 star hotel stay, including dinner and a spa trip. But that’s not all…..the losing team would have to scrub the kitchen and gym while the others were relaxing.
The black team The Biggest Loser on NBC being mostly women with the exception of Sam, wanted to win very badly. The blue team got a head start on the challenge with 2 correct answers, but the black team quickly rebounded to tie the score. The blue team wound up getting the final correct answer and they headed off to the spa, where they actually made some good, healthy food choices while dining out…guess they have learned something here! Meanwhile, the black team were scrubbing away at the ranch much to their dismay.
After they returned from their trip to the hotel and spa on The Biggest Loser on NBC, Michael got a call in the middle of the night that his grandmother was very ill. Despite not wanting to leave the ranch, Michael knew what he had to do as his grandmother played a huge part in his life and helped his mother raise him. So he headed back home for a few days not knowing if this would possibly be the last time he would see his grandmother or not. Hopefully, he would keep his focus on food by eating healthy while he was away.
For their next challenge on The Biggest Loser on NBC they turned the focus on food once again as the contestants would be cooking for this challenge. But, they would not be cooking for themselves, they would be cooking for celebrity chef and current contestant on Celebrity Apprentice, Curtis Stone. Curtis Stone would be judging the dishes and whoever won based on taste & calories would be getting a 5lb advantage at the scales this week. Both teams had to create 3 dishes: an appetizer, a main course and a dessert with only 12 ingredients total.
Discouraged by their loss of Michael, who was also their main cook on the blue team on The Biggest Loser on NBC, they pushed on. I was surprised however that they did not create that tasty little appetizer that Bob had showed them earlier on in the episode. Both teams made some delicious looking dishes and had each won one dish, but in the end it was the black team who impressed Curtis Stone with their 60 calorie, delicious, healthy dessert of pears, strawberry sauce and goat cheese. So the black team had a 5 lb advantage in the weigh in this week.
While Jillian Michaels was thrilled about this, she also refused to let her team slack because of it. She started pushing them extremely hard in their exercise and fitness routines this week. Bob Harper was not so happy about the 5 lb advantage however and decided they were going to win anyway, so he also pushed the blue team to the limit with their exercise and fitness workouts this week on The Biggest Loser. But the question remained…..how would Michael fare this week while being away from the ranch? He did indeed make it back for weigh in, and he says he stayed on track and worked out twice a day.
Here is how the team’s fared at the weigh in this week:
The Blue Team:
Oneal from 311 to 302 (-9)
Michael from 408 to 397 (-11)
Lance from 290 to 282 (-8)
Daris from 258 to 248 (-10)
Koli from 306 to 297 (-9) *second person this season to lose over 100 lbs
Sunshine from 225 to 216 (-9)
for a total weight loss of 56 lbs and 3.11%
The Black Team
Andrea from 243 to 238 (-5)
Sherry from 166 to 163 (-3)
Sam from 286 to 278 (-8)
Ashley from 293 to 286 (-7)
Stephanie from 210 to 208 (-2)
for a total weight loss of 30 lbs and 2.5%
This meant that not only did the blue team win, but Michael stayed on track like he said he did, stating it was all for his grandmother. Koli also had a huge milestone as he hit the 100lb loss mark and also got under 300 lbs, kudos to him! Sam was emotional wreck over Koli’s big night and told everyone “This is what it is all about”. But, this also meant it was now elimination time for the black team on The Biggest Loser on NBC and given Stephanie’s 2 lb loss, I think everyone assumed she would be sent home.
That was not the case, however on this food focused episode of The Biggest Loser on NBC as it was actually Sherry who was sent home, only because they all knew she could do it at home…and she did! Sherry started The Biggest Loser at 218 lbs and to date is weighing in at 138 lbs and holy cow does she look great. She didn’t even save anything for the finale as she looks fabulous now and probably at or very near her goal weight! Congratulations Sherry although we will miss you!
