The Hills: Spencer Pratt Is Leaving The MTV Reality Show

March 16, 2010 06:38 AM by Nancy Floyd

Television personality Spencer Pratt visits Kitson on Robertson Blvd on April 19, 2008 in West Hollywood, California.

Spencer Pratt has long been known as the resident bad guy on MTV‘s The Hills, but it looks like wife Heidi Montag will have to handle the villainous duties solo on the upcoming season. Spencer Pratt has just announced that he will no longer be filming episodes of the MTV reality show so that he can focus on a new endeavor: fighting cyber crime. Keep reading for more details…

Spencer Pratt, the guy everyone loves to hate on MTV‘s The Hills, has announced that he’s leaving the show and getting a real job. Shocking, no? ”In the last few months I have discovered a new passion and new purpose to my life,” Pratt tells People magazine. “With this in mind, I have decided to take a break from my obligations to MTV‘s The Hills and discontinue filming any more episodes for this current season.”

So what is this new passion that’s causing Pratt to leave MTV‘s The Hills, the show that made him famous? Cyber crime! Pratt, who is a software engineering major at USC, has taken a job with the American Defense Enterprises in their cyber security division. ”Upon learning of President Obama’s declaration that the ‘cyber threat is one of the most serious economic and national security challenges we face as a nation,’ I have decided to refocus my energy and devote my full resources to helping America face this and other unprecedented challenges,” he says. ”My new mission is this: To do my part in maintaining the technological superiority of the U.S. military and prevent emerging technologies from threatening our nation’s security.”

Fans of MTV‘s The Hills might still get to see a little bit of Pratt though since the show began filming weeks before his announcement. His wife, Heidi Montag, will remain on the show as well. “I am saddened to take this break from filming MTV‘s The Hills. At this time, however I feel I would not be honoring my country or myself if I were to continue this endeavor when I have the opportunity and the ability to assist our nation against these prevalent threats.”
