The highly anticipated premiere of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars‘ tenth season went off without a hitch on Monday night. The 11 celebrities, which include Pamela Anderson, Shannen Doherty, and The Bachelor‘s Jake Pavelka, strutted their stuff to either a Viennese Waltz or the Cha-cha on the season premiere. Keep reading for more details on what went on backstage and what the stars had to say about their performances…
Everyone was clearly nervous on Monday’s night season premiere of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars, but the celebrities and their dance pro partners managed to pull off some graceful, exciting, and fun routines. “There was so much anxiety in the room tonight with everybody stretching, everybody trying to remember their routines. I know what it’s like and I wanted to just throw out the index cards and give everybody a big hug,” new Dancing With the Stars co-host (and former competitor), Brooke Burke says.
The Bachelor‘s Jake Pavelka says performing live “was awesome. It created an energy you can feed off of. I wish we could have been out there a little bit longer.†He may have enjoyed dancing in front of a live audience, but his mom, Sally who was in the audience (along with The Bachelor‘s star Vienna Girardi and Gia Allemand) says she was full of nervous jitters. “You know how it is when you’re a mom,†she said, “you want your child to do well.â€
Two contestants on Monday night’s premiere of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars were moved to tears: Shannen Doherty and Niecy Nash. “I couldn’t keep it together,†Doherty told PEOPLE after seeing her dad (who recently suffered a stroke) in the audience. “I always said I’d never be that girl that cried on camera, but I did. Oh well, it’s my Daddy.†Niecy Nash says she was crying “happy tears.” She adds, “I had a fantastic time dancing for redemption after being kicked out of my eighth-grade dance class. I was dancing for every woman in America who is not a size two, and I was dancing for every person who’s ever had a dream deferred.â€
Pamela Anderson certainly seemed to be enjoying herself during her sexy performance on ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars, although she says fans shouldn’t expect the same thing week after week. “We want to do something different every time,†she says. “It’s not always going to be sex, drugs, rock and roll and ripping off clothes.â€
