Nicole Scherzinger may have commanded the stage during Monday’s premiere of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars, but backstage she was a bundle of nerves. The Pussycat Doll blogs about her nerve-racking performance, working with partner Derek Hough, and her thoughts on new host, Brooke Burke…
Nicole Scherzinger certainly impressed the judges and the audience on Monday’s premiere of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars. She and partner, Derek Hough, earned the highest score of the night for their elegant Viennese Waltz, but the Pussycat Doll says that she was terrified about the performance. “Performing was a lot more nerve-wracking than I expected, but then again, I did expect it to be very nerve-wracking! I’m a singer before I’m a dancer and this isn’t anything like I’ve ever experienced before. And the whole live audience! It’s crazy. I think you just have to work hard to hope you get through it. When you get out there and and you realize it’s live? You’re counting every step out there. You just hope you’re getting it right!” she writes.
Fortunately, she had the help of a great partner: dance pro and former Dancing With the Stars champion, Derek Hough. “Even though my hands were shaking when we were up there about to dance, Derek was a pro and is an awesome partner. Derek and I are also having fun. We sing together in the studio every day. I almost feel like we’ve formed our own band,” Scherzinger says.
Although everyone was clearly impressed with her, Nicole was impressed with someone else on ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars: new co-host, Brooke Burke. Nicole writes, “Brooke Burke did awesome as a new judge. I think she was the best choice for the job. And she looked hot!”
Fans of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars will get a chance to see Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough strut their stuff again on Monday night and determine whether or not their first performance was just a fluke. Nicole says she’s ready to do what it takes though to prove she’s got real talent. ”I’m really ready to work hard to keep the momentum going,” she says.
