Chelsie Hightower was just as shocked as the rest of America to learn that The Bachelor‘s Jake Pavelka had been cast on ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars, but she was even more stunned when she learned he was going to be her partner. The pair performed a respectable Viennese Waltz (and earned 20 points) on Monday night’s episode, but Chelsie says they have their work cut out for them for next week’s Jive. Keep reading for more details on what Chelsie thinks of Jake as a partner, the challenges that lie ahead for them, and what celebrities have impressed her so far…
Chelsie Hightower wasn’t expecting to be paired up with The Bachelor‘s Jake Pavelka on this season of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars, but the more they’ve worked together, the more she’s grown to like him. “He was nothing from what I was expecting. I’ll be honest. I was not expecting him at all! But the more I thought about it, the more I got excited….Jake’s such a great guy — so sweet. We’re working hard, but having fun,” she says.
America witnessed Hightower and Pavelka perform a Viennese Waltz on Monday night’s episode of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars which earned them mixed reviews from the judges and a final score of 20. Of their first time on stage, Hightower says, “It felt good — can’t complain. We’re right in the thick of it. We didn’t really have any expectations. I knew where he was, but you never know on the first show how the celebrities are going to handle the situation. I thought he did a great job performing for the first time live. I’m really proud of him.”
On next week’s episode of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars, Hightower and The Bachelor will take on the Jive and according to Hightower, they’ve got their work cut out for them. “It’s going good. We’re working on it. We started a little bit last week. … It’s a hard dance and he’s not getting the feel of it — the rhythm, the beat. It’s so different from the Viennese waltz. That’s slow; this is fast and you’re constantly going. It’s going to be a tough one for us, but we just have to work harder, and do it over and over and over again until it feels comfortable.”
With one week of performances behind them, who does Hightower think might be a threat on this season of Dancing With the Stars? “I thought everyone did such a great job. I think Pamela Anderson probably surprised me the most. I didn’t really know what to expect and what she did bring was pretty cool. She did a good job with that. Obviously, Evan [Lysacek] and Nicole [Scherzinger] were great. I think Erin Andrews is a dark horse. She’s going to be pretty good.”
