When The Hills‘ sixth season premieres on MTV on April 27th, it’s the beginning of the end. MTV has confirmed that the reality show will not be returning for a seventh season. Keep reading for more details on all of the drama coming up for Kristin Cavallari, Heidi Montag, and the rest of the gang…
MTV‘s The Hills has been going strong for nearly six seasons now. The Laguna Beach spin-off originally followed California beauty and aspiring fashion designer, Lauren Conrad as she moved to Hollywood in pursuit of her dreams. When Conrad left the show in June 2009, producers of The Hills brought in Laguna Beach bad girl, Kristin Cavallari to take over as the new star, but now the show has run it’s course. “I think we’ve told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A.,†creator Adam DiVello tells Entertainment Weekly. “A lot of these kids have found themselves and have certainly embarked on different careers and different paths.â€
On April 27th, MTV‘s The Hills will begin its sixth and final season. The show’s 12 episodes are promising to feature some of the juiciest drama to date. This season of The Hills will follow Heidi Montag as she deals with the repercussions of her new plastic surgery (including a tense visit to her disapproving parents in Colorado), showcase Kristin Cavallari as she handles drug abuse rumors, document the budding romance between Audrina Patridge and singer Ryan Cabrera, and detail Stephanie Pratt’s struggle with sobriety.
“We are lucky and honored to have worked with this cast and tell their stories for this long, and we are grateful to the many dedicated fans who have stuck with us over the years,†MTV’s President of Programming Tony DiSanto said in a statement. “We owe it to those fans, the cast and the show to go out on a high note. And this season will deliver on that goal in terms of drama, story, real emotion and an organic culmination of this saga.â€
As for whether or not Lauren Conrad will appear in the show’s finale, DiVello simply says that The Hills will come to a satisfying conclusion but not the one he always hoped for. “I always joked it would be nice to see Lauren get married,” he says.
