American Idol alum Carrie Underwood is busy with wedding preparations for her upcoming nuptials to fiance (and professional hocker player), Mike Fisher. Although the pair have yet to set a date, they’re beginning to figure out the small details about their big day. Keep reading for wedding update news from Carrie Underwood herself…
American Idol season 4 champion, Carrie Underwood hints that her wedding to Mike Fisher will be a traditional affair in most respects, but the pair plan to change up a few small details. For example, they’re opting for cupcakes in lieu of a typical wedding cake. “We’re kind of doing cupcakes,” the American Idol alum says. “I consider myself a very traditional person. More than anything, we’re going to get married, that’s the important part. And we want everyone to have a good time, so we’re doing some things like that, that are a little bit different.”
Carrie Underwood says the cupcakes will come from IveyCake in Franklin, Tennessee. The cupcake bakery is owned by Ivey Childers, who coincidentally is married to Carrie Underwood‘s bass player, Mark Childers. Underwood says Ivey “makes the most amazing cupcakes in the universe.” Despite being engaged for over three months now, Underwood and Fisher have yet to actually set (or announce) a wedding date which isn’t surprising considering their hectic schedules.
“There’s a lot going on,” the American Idol star says. “[Mike's team, the Ottawa Senators] are still in the season. They actually only have a few more season games left. I’m touring until the end of June, and have a few shows in July, so we’re working on it here and there. We have a few things coming along.” One thing that is for sure though is that the pair doesn’t want a huge celebration. “We’re trying to keep it small,” Underwood says.
