The Hills: Jason Wahler ‘Ashamed’ About Recent Arrest

March 29, 2010 11:00 AM by Nancy Floyd

It’s too bad Jason Wahler is no longer a part of the cast of MTV‘s The Hills, because his life has been full of drama lately. On March 19th, the reality star was taken into custody for a DUI, his sixth alcohol-related arrest in the past few years. A week earlier, video footage popped up online of Wahler being arrested in Mexico on March 11th for allegedly getting in a fight. Wahler opens up about the embarrassing arrests and how ashamed he feels of his actions…

Jason Wahler, former star of MTV‘s The Hills, has surely had his ups and downs in recent years. After previous alcohol-related arrests, Wahler showed signs of cleaning up his act in 2007 by attending rehab and staying out of trouble. Six months ago, the reality star moved back to Orange County and began working on obtaining a business degree. He says he even began attending AA up to five times a week. “I had a sponsor and stuff,” he says. “You know, the whole thing.”

Apparently, the efforts weren’t enough because on March 11th and March 19th, Wahler was arrested on alcohol-related charges. On March 11th, he allegedly got into a club brawl in Cabo San Lucas. On March 19th, he was arrested in L.A. for a DUI. The former star of MTV‘s The Hills says that while traveling to Los Angeles, he “got distracted” and “started falling out of the program” and “lost contact with my sponsor.”

Now that he’s made headlines yet again for his bad behavior, Wahler says, ”I am very, very ashamed of everything. I am very sorry for everything that’s happened.” He won’t comment specifically on the most recent arrest but says, ”I think everything happens for a reason. God did that to me, so maybe I would be at [rock] bottom and want to climb my way to the top.”

The Hills star says he has the support of his friends and family as he tries to change his ways. ”It’s all about getting back on track,” Wahler tells UsWeekly. “My girlfriend, my parents, my brothers, my sisters and a handful of my best friends are willing to do everything to keep me out of trouble. I never want to drink again.” He adds, “If I don’t stay sober, I am not going to have a life.”
