Tonight on FOX, Ryan Seacrest starts off the latest results episode of American Idol 9 by introducing the judges, Ellen Degeneres, Simon Cowell, Kara Dioguardi, and Randy Jackson. Usher was the mentor last night for the Top Ten contestants who endured a bit of a hairy night at the hands of the judges! Usher is set to perform tonight as is Idol alumni Ruben Studdard, and Diddy! Read on for all the highlights…
Ruben comes out to perform immediately. He is looking svelte in a black suit with white shirt and sings beautifully. After, he shares with Ryan Seacrest the details of his new vegan diet, and his upcoming tour with Clay Aiken!
The contestants appear in another music video, and are wished the best of luck by the cast of Clash Of The Titans, before Ryan asks Lee Dewyze to stand up. He says he felt last night’s performance more than the previous ones. Simon tells Ryan he sees Lee as a potential finalist – America agrees – he’s safe! Casey James stands next. Ryan asks him how he could challenge himself – he doesn’t have an answer other than try to give a little more. Ryan psyches him out, but then tells him to sit back down – he’s safe. Aaron Kelly is in the spotlight after Casey. Ryan grills him on whether he’s been in love. Aaron hasn’t been in love, so Ryan wonders how he can feel the emotion. Simon pipes up and says this isn’t the Oprah Winfrey show. Ryan takes offense, resulting in another tense moment. Aaron is put out of his misery – he’s safe.
Ryan asks Katie Stevens and Siobhan Magnus to stand up together. He asks Siobhan how it felt to have the judges come down on her last night. She says she’s not defeated. Katie also took criticism from the judges – she wants to use their advice to better herself. Ryan says that after the nationwide vote, Katie is in the bottom three, and Siobhan is safe. Simon is frustrated that Katie hasn’t taken his advice and gone country.
Ryan Seacrest sits in the audience with Justin Bieber and introduces Usher! Usher comes down a long flight of stairs onto the stage where he joins his back up dancers and thrills the crowd with his moves. The crowd screams their approval when Usher is joined by Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas!
Didi Benami is asked to stand up and chat with Ryan. He asks if she would go back to using the guitar if she sticks around. She shrugs, admitting it’s a risk when she plays guitar. Ryan tells her she will have to join Katie – she’s in the bottom three tonight. Michael Lynche is now in the spotlight. Ryan totally gets Mike by telling him this is a surprise and asking him to walk across the stage before telling him he’s safe. Big Mike picks Ryan up in retaliation! Crystal Bowersox is quickly let off the hook by Ryan – she is safe for another week.
Tim Urban and Andrew Garcia must now stand up together. Kara has a conversation with Tim about why he continues to smile in spite of the criticism. He feels if it’s his last time on stage he doesn’t want to spend it feeling depressed! Andrew is told he is safe – Tim is indeed in the bottom three.
Ryan sends Katie Stevens back to the couches – she is safe for another week. Either Didi Benami or Tim Urban is going home tonight – unless the judges use the save!
Performing the world premiere of Hello Good Morning, Diddy Dirty Money takes the stage live on American Idol! For those wondering, yes, it’s P. Diddy, Sean Puffy Combs, Puff Daddy, etc… The crowd goes positively mental!
Ryan announces the the person in danger of going home tonight is…Didi Benami. Teflon Tim slides through again! Didi takes the stage to sing one more time in a bid to convince the judges to use the save. Ryan goes to Simon for the final decision. He says it’s bad news – they’re not going to save her, but it was a million times better than last night.
