As Kate Gosselin, former star of Jon & Kate plus 8 and current star of Kate plus 8, deals with life as a single working mom and a new custody battle wtih ex-husband Jon, her new Zondervan published memoir, I Just Want You To Know: Letters To My Children on Love, Faith, and Family, is set to release on April 13th. Life & Style obtained an early copy of the book and has released some personal and surprising excerpts.

In the new book, Kate Gosselin writes a letter to each of her eight children. She also includes her personal thoughts and feelings on her failed marriage to Jon, noting the many mistakes she made during their time on Jon & Kate plus 8. “Much of what I said to Jon was unwarranted,” she admits in the book. “I could have watched what I said better, I could have guarded my tongue better. I wanted to communicate better, but I often failed.”

In addition to writing about her negative attitude with Jon, the Kate plus 8 star recognizes her shortcomings in the area of responsibility.  “I also didn’t focus on the fact that much of the responsibility for our children, the finances, the schedules and the decisions about the future was on me,” she writes.

In a letter to son Aaden, Kate expresses her sorrow over the fact that Jon is not a permanent part of the child’s life anymore, writing, “I do not possess the skills to father you. But I will do everything I can to show you the way.” To son Collin, she addresses his pain and grief over the divorce and tries to reassure him of her presence. She writes, “I will never leave you. I know that all the recent events in our family structure have greatly upset you, maybe you most of all. When I leave for work, I will always come back.”
