Despite being named the new spokesperson for Weight Watchers, American Idol runner-up, Jennifer Hudson says she is completely comfortable with her curvy body and doesn’t feel pressure to lose weight. Despite working in an industry filled with women that are size 0 or 2, Hudson says she’s never been encouraged to try to change her curvy body. Keep reading for more details on how the star feels about her thinner new figure…
American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson has always been known for her curvy body and that suits the singer just fine. Despite being a larger woman in an industry full of stick-thin models, Jennifer Hudson says she’s never been pressured to drop pounds. ”For the most part, I’ve been asked to stay the same [size] — ‘This is your image, this is who you are, you should stay here,’ which is fine with me,” the American Idol star says. ”I never really felt pressure to say, ‘OK, I need to be a size 2, a size 0. I don’t want to be that, and I will never be that. And that’s fine with me. So it was never, ‘OK I need to be this because this is the way Hollywood says you’re supposed to be,’” Hudson says.
The singer has recently lost some weight through Weight Watchers (and was subsequently named their new celebrity spokesperson), but wasn’t motivated by a need to be ultra-thin or by an underlying insecurity. After giving birth to son, David Otunga Jr., last August, Jennifer Hudson simply wanted to lose some of the extra pregnancy weight. And although her trainer says her butt, thighs, and middle are more toned than ever before, the American Idol star is content with her body regardless of its size.
“I’m just as comfortable now as I was however many pounds ago, however many sizes ago,” Hudson says.
