Extreme Makeover Home Edition: Suggs Family and Jeff Gordon!
April 11, 2010 06:01 PM by Candace Young

After taking the Extreme Makeover Home Edition bus for a spin around Myrtle Beach Speedway, Ty Pennington and the design team pick up Nascar star, Jeff Gordon, to join them in helping out South Carolina’s Suggs family on FOX! Derrick and Amanda Suggs adopted Amanda’s younger siblings to keep them from being split up and put in foster care. They took in six children, and now only two are left, along with the Sugg’s two young children. Their home is small, falling down, and full of asbestos. Oh, and they are huge Nascar fans!
Ty Pennington and the others arrive for Door Knock Day, and the Suggs family is overjoyed! Amanda’s brother picks Ty up and spins him around! They meet Jeff Gordon, and find out that they are headed to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
They take a tour of the house, including the workout room (Amanda’s oldest brother likes wrestling). Meanwhile, Jeff Gordon takes a joy ride on their go cart! Amanda shows Ty some family photos, including her father who passed away. She say her parents are good people, but drugs and alcohol were involved. Ty lost his father as well, and can relate to things being left unsaid.
The family meets the volunteers and builders, receive a gift box from Ty, and then take off for the airport – with Jeff Gordon driving the limo!
The tricky issue of the asbestos is dealt with, and then it’s time to demo. The family watches via video feed as WWE stars Big Show, R-Truth, and the The Bella Twins appear to take the house down!

The house begins to go up very quickly. Big Show sticks around to help out since he is a South Carolina boy and wants to give back. R-Truth helps Paige out with a race car design theme, Ed hatches an idea for a bike path with jumps, and Ty shows Jeff Gordon how to operate a sander!
Plans are developed to have Jake’s (the oldest brother) room connect via tunnel to a workout room!
In Walt Disney World, the Suggs family get a phone call from Ty Pennington – it’s time to open the gift! It’s a checkered flag – they’re having a VIP day at Daytona International Speedway! Paige is there to accompany them! They visit the race control booth, and at the track, Jeff Gordon appears to take them on a ride!

Ty is designing Derrick and Amanda’s room around the theme of a cherry blossom, because it’s the first new thing you see in Spring. Jeff Gordon is helping with the design of the race car, and Johnny is with the Bella Twins getting advice on wrestling equipment. Wearing a crop top, Johnny is put through his paces!
Ed finishes his wall o’ wheels design, and the siding goes on the house. It’s time to move in the furniture! Jeff Gordon marvels at the team work and dedication that goes into building a house in seven days. Ed and Jeff race in mini front-loaders, with Ed taking off way ahead – Jeff doesn’t know how to make it go forward! In the end, Jeff prevails.
The Suggs family is back and everyone chants to move that bus! The family cries at the sight of the new home, and thank the men from Sterling Builders. They hug the design team and Jeff Gordon, then head in to see their new house!

Ty joins them inside, where Big Show tells the Suggs family via video that the WWE has set aside a mortgage fund for them in the amount of $25,000! The bedroom reveals are up next. The race car room goes over big with Amanda’s younger brother – he is thrilled when Jeff Gordon presents him with a signed door from his race car! Jake checks out his new room, and is overwhelmed to learn that there is a tunnel to a wrestling themed workout room!
Amanda and Derrick see their new master bedroom, and receive a touching letter from Amanda’s mother, which prompts her to call it a new start for everybody. The Suggs next see their new backyard – a motocross bike dirt track! They also fixed up the go cart, and added a new one! Ty calls out, “Welcome home Suggs family! Welcome home!”
