On Wednesday night’s episode, American Idol fans will get to witness a duet performance from a season 7 finalist and Miley Cyrus’ ex! Brooke White, the fifth place finisher in Idol’s seventh season, will be teaming up with Justin Gaston for a performance on this week’s results show. Keep reading for more details on the pair’s Elvis duet…
Brooke White may have finished in fifth place on American Idol, but that hasn’t stopped the blonde singer-songwriter from continuing to pursue her dreams after her time on the FOX singing competition. Like many other Idol alums, the season 7 finalist released an album titled High Hopes and Heartbreak. Now she’s gearing up to take the American Idol stage for the second time since her departure (she sang one of her own tunes last February).
Brooke White and Justin Gaston will be dueting on Wednesday night’s results show, along with fellow American Idol alum, Adam Lambert. White and Gaston will be singing Elvis Presley’s, If I Can Dream, coincidentally the same name of the web series (created by American Idol‘s Simon Fuller) that Gaston is a star of.
“I was familiar-ish with the song,” Brooke White says about being asked to perform the Elvis tune. ”Anytime someone asks me to sing for 20 million people, I’m OK with it, but [the song] does carry a really great, powerful message.” Still, despite having spent so much time on the American Idol stage in the past, White still says it’s a nerve-racking experience. ”It’s a mixed bag of feelings. Last year, I got really nervous, then the second I set foot in the building and I saw familiar faces, I felt at ease — like I was among friends,” she says.
She hasn’t kept up with American Idol this season too much due to her busy schedule, but she’s looking forward to the opportunity to see the contestants.  ”I’ve heard it’s quite the season of the singer-songwriter,” Brooke says. “Like there’s a lot of guitars and pianos up there, which makes me happy to know. … I’m excited to meet them!”
