Last night the cast of contenders raised the bar on Dancing With the Stars and tonight only the strong survived. Who continued to shine and which couple had their lights turned out? Keep reading to find out.
The first couple safe tonight on Dancing With the Stars was Erin and Maks. I guess America doesn’t agree with old cranky pants Len. Len gave his week six critique of the dancers calling Chad and Erin the best star dancers of the night. He also thought that the swing dance marathon was brilliant! The dance chosen for an encore was the Tango by Chad and Cheryl. Chad should Tango more often as he and Cheryl have great passion together.
Grammy and Academy Award-winning singer/songwriter Melissa Etheridge performed the first single Fearless Love, from her new album of the same title which hit the stores today. Series dance pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Anna Trebunskaya, Chelsie Hightower and Tony Dovolani accompanied this performance.
The next couple safe was Chad and Cheryl Burke. The rest of the couples were awaiting there fate under the red lights!
World class Nuevo Flamenco/Spanish guitarist Benise performed “Salsa Salsa” from his Emmy winning multi-cultural stage show. Benise’s new special, The Spanish Guitar, will be airing on PBS in June with a nationwide tour this Fall. The Spanish Guitar was filmed over three years and across 10 countries. Benise, armed with his Spanish guitar, took us on a spectacular journey of music and dance through Spanish Flamenco, Cuban Salsa, African Rhythms, Argentinean Tango and Brazilian Samba. Backed by a stage full of musicians, an orchestra and 12 elaborately choreographed dancers, the show captured world music at its best. Special guests included Dave Koz, Kimberly Locke, Giorgia Fumanti and “Dancing with The Stars” pro couple Nick and Lena Kosovich.Â
A sports science team showed cutting edge technology via a computer screen to show the viewers how technically sound the dancers were on Dancing With the Stars. It was interesting to find out that Edyta can spin faster than the pedals on Lance Armstrong’s bicycle. In the end the results showed that the dancers on the show were first class athletes.
Melissa Etheridge returned and was accompanied on the dance floor by Edyta Sliwinska and Alec Mazo as she sang her iconic hit Come to my Window from her six-time platinum album Yes I Am, which spent two and a half years on the album chart and earned her a second Best Female Rock Vocal Performance Grammy.
Nicole and Derek and Jake and Chelsie were called forward by host Tom Bergeron as he announced the next couple safe being Nicole and Derek. He then left Jake and Chelsie hanging as they were to find out their fate later in the show. What a tease you are Tom.
The next couple revealed to be safe on Dancing With the Stars was Pamela and Damian. Yay…she was going to return next week. Go Pamela! Oh no, did that mean that Niecy may be going home? I was voting for Jake to go home instead!
Jake and Chelsie, Evan and Anna and Niecy and Louis were the last three couples waiting to hear if they would have their light snuffed out tonight. A montage of the dancers performances was shown along with the pairs comments.
The fate of the stars was finally revealed. With Jake being at the bottom of the leader board, perhaps it was his night to go home? The first couple in the bottom two was Jake and Chelsie, while the next couple safe was Evan and Anna. This left Niecy and Louis in the bottom two along with Jake and Chelsie.
Jake gave a heartfelt thank you to all who voted for him and broke down as he told Chelsie how much he loved being with her all of these weeks! Jake you are cute…good luck with Vienna!
