Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, star of Bravo‘s The Real Housewives of New York City, is continuing her quest to educate the world about manners and class through her new pop song, “Money Can’t Buy You Class.” The Countess says that through the dance single, which was released on Monday, she’s “trying to bring manners — and disco — back.” Keep reading for more details on the housewife’s foray into pop music…

Countess LuAnn de Lesseps is using her newfound fame on Bravo‘s The Real Housewives of New York City to fulfill a childhood dream. The recently divorced housewife just released her first single, “Money Can’t Buy You Class” on Monday. The overproduced dance track is available on iTunes and, according to de Lesseps, is the first of many. “I’m putting myself out there,” de Lesseps says, “knowing that I won’t always be perfect. And It’s scary, but it’s worth it. Let people talk about it. Like my good friend [the late] Princess Hohenlohe [born Patricia Wilder] used to say, ‘If they’re not talking about you, you might as well be dead.’”

The Real Housewives of New York City star says that through the song she’s “trying to bring manners — and disco — back.” She adds, “When I made the song, I had dancing in Saint-Tropez in mind.” Even her on-screen nemesis, Bethenny Frankel, admitted to liking the track (although we can’t figure out why). “Even if Bethenny wanted to be mean, she couldn’t because I think she really really likes the song,” says de Lesseps. “I think [Bravo VP] Andy Cohen was mean to show a clip of me singing off key, but I’m a reality star; I don’t have the luxury that Beyoncé does to not show that footage.”

The video for the single was filmed at Covet, a club in Midtown Manhattan. “There’s not really dancing,” de Lesseps says about the video shoot. “I just have very good looking men standing around. And it’s about how money can’t buy you class, so I’m taking money out of their pockets and throwing it onto the floor.”

Despite the fact that it’s only been days since her first song was released, the The Real Housewives of New York City star already has plans to release a second single called “Chic, C’est La Vie.” About the song, de Lesseps says, “It’s a French twist on beauty, class and elegance and how that lies within your soul.” And the Countess is thrilled about her new endeavor saying, “I’m so happy. I’m really lucky to be able to realize my dream from singing in the mirror with a hairbrush at age 9 to actually going into the studio and recording a song and having it on iTunes! I mean, who would have ever known?”
