May 09, 2010 07:00 AM by Nancy Floyd

The mother of four children (ages six and younger), Project Runway‘s host Heidi Klum knows a thing or two about parenting. In honor of Mother’s Day, the supermodel and reality TV star opens up about the best advice she’s received about being a mom. Keep reading for more details on Klum’s positive and carefree outlook on parenthood and what advice her own mother gave her about raising kids…

Project Runway star Heidi Klum is no stranger to the ups and downs of parenting. The supermodel has her hands full as the mother to four young children (Leni, 6, Henry, 4, Johan, 3, and Lou, 7 months), but she thinks being a mom should be enjoyable and fun. When asked about the best advice she received from her own mother, Heidi Klum says, ”Always have fun, treat people well, have respect for everybody and therefore you will be respected. Have fun in your life.”

The Project Runway host acknowledges that it’s ”hard to give new moms advice because every person is different,” but fortunately for her, the transition into motherhood was an easy one. “For me, all of my pregnancies were easy so I never really had too many cravings or weight issues.” And now that her babies are growing up, Klum’s personal philosophy is to enjoy every moment and try to avoid the natural stress that comes with raising children. ”I think you should have a great time with it,” she says. “It’s such an amazing experience.”
