The city of Nashville was underwater last weekend after two days of heavy rainfall flooded the city and the surrounding area. As home to some of the nation’s greatest country singers, Nashville is the prime candidate for a major star-studded benefit concert. Country power couple, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, have taken the reins to plan an event called Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert For Flood Recovery and have convinced some major stars to participate, including American Idol season 4 champion, Carrie Underwood.
The benefit concert will be held at Bridgestone Arena, in Nashville, on June 22nd. Tickets range from $25 to $75. In addition to American Idol‘s Carrie Underwood, the show will also include performances from LeAnn Rimes, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, and of course, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Tickets go on sale this Friday, May 14th.
“The damage that we’ve seen to people’s homes and the effect that the flooding has had on their lives is unimaginable. But we’ve seen the spirit of our community firsthand, as volunteers, church groups and our local business leaders rally to help,” Tim McGraw and Faith Hill said in a statement. ”We all need to continue to support those in need in any way that we can, and for that reason we could not be more appreciative to all of the artists, the companies and the people behind the scenes who collectively will make June 22 a truly special night.”
Carrie Underwood has expressed her love for Nashville in past interviews, saying, “I love living in Nashville! It’s so beautiful and the people are awesome! I feel at home there and hope to live there for the rest of my life!”
