This has been the most successful season ever on Dancing With the Stars and tonight, the competition grew tougher than ever when the five remaining couples performed two individual dances for the first time. In the Latin round, each couple was asked to perform to a randomly chosen theme from an era in time. Did anyone slip into the future tonight and perhaps seal their fate for tomorrow night?

The show began with the pros sizing up their competition. Nicole was seen as the top contender this season by her peers, but as the competition nears the final sprint they are all going for it! The race to the semi-finals began with Chad and Cheryl dancing the Tango. Cheryl was feeling exhausted as she never knows what mood Chad is going to be in when he enters the dance studio. His ups and downs showed during their Tango. He seemed off tonight to me and Len said that learning two dances in a week has really shown up as Chad didn’t have time to polish the routine tonight. Bruno said that Chad went for the emotional involement, but his footwork and hold went a little bit. Carrie Ann said that Chad has great potential but his posture was funky. They received 21 for their first score tonight.

Next on Dancing With the Stars was Niecy and Louis dancing the Viennese Waltz. Her smile is infectious and tonight she showed such grace…it was lovely. Bruno commented that her dancing was pretty, but at times it looked like she was being chased by a swarm of wasps…he was booed! Carrie Ann said that she thought there was too much push and pull and the transitions were not there. Len said that he was pleasantly surprised as the dance had lovely flow and her posture was good. He also told her that her carriage was so high he was surprised she could hear the music…that was a compliment by the way! Their first score 23.

Erin and Maks were dancing the Argentine Tango tonight and Erin was whining about being scared to do jumps and lifts and she was making Maks angry again! She got over her fear and their routine was sultry and sexy. Carrie Ann kissed Len before saying that their routine was sooo hot and was truly beautiful! Len called Erin a dirty, dirty girl and Bruno said that Maks is a lucky fire hydrant and he never knew Erin could be so bendy! They received 28.

The next ballroom dance on Dancing With the Stars was performed by Evan and Anna and they were dancing the Waltz. Evan took Anna on the ice and gave her the same hard critique that she gives him each week. After she had enough they went back to put on their dancing shoes. Their dance tonight was very romantic and flowed nicely. Len told Evan that he wasn’t sure if he liked the dance or not as he didn’t like the roley poly stuff on the floor. Bruno said that he thought it was romantic and Evan’s lyrical lines are something to behold. Carrie Ann said that the lines are impeccable, but when she looked closer she wants to see Evan lose himself in the dance. They received 27 for their first score.

The final ballroom round dancers tonight were Nicole and Derek dancing a Fox Trot. Nicole broke down in rehearsal as she was feeling the pressure from having to learn two dances for this evening on Dancing With the Stars. Nicole didn’t show any pressure during their dance tonight as it was clean and smooth as usual! They received a standing ovation as Bruno said that their dance was one and a half minutes of pure dancing joy and he saluted them. Carrie Ann said that Nicole defiled her imagination and that Nicole is in it to win it and she loves it. Len said that they took a Fox Trot and a Michael Buble song and turned it into something beautiful and enchanting. Their ballroom score was 29. Len is a poop head for his 9.

The ballroom round was over and next the dancers would be dancing through the eras in a Latin round on Dancing With the Stars and the showdance professionals came out to show the audience what they should expect in the dancing through the eras routines with a futuristic dance. Once again the pros sized up their competition and this time they thought that Evan may be the biggest competitor.

First up with a 1960′s styled Jive was Chad and Cheryl. Chad was dressed as a pimp and throwing his money around…Cheryl Burke commented that it is real life for him! Len said that it was high energy and fun and entertaining and Bruno said that Chad pimped his Jive. Carrie Ann said it was great and groovy and this dance was better than his last. Their second score was 24 a total of 45.

Next up, taking us all the way back to the 1990′s was Niecy and Louis dancing a Paso doble. Niecy found it difficult to capture the drama during rehearsal, but she was intense, fierce and powerful in her routine tonight. It was not her best dance though as she seemed to be blank faced. Bruno called Niecy a scary momma and said she looked a bit like an avalanche ready for a disaster. Carrie Ann gave her credit for the most ambitious routine yet, but the balance of power was out of whack and Len said this dance did not suit her personality. 20 out of 30 for their second score for a total of 43.

Erin and Maks were dancing a 1980′s Rumba with Erin in a Flashdance sweater and Maks in his Miami Vice suit. Maks tried to give Erin confidence and as they danced tonight she finally put herself up there with Evan and Anna. Carrie began by telling Erin that she cannot put herself down and love every minute of their dance and Len said the mix of steps was great but the dance was jerky. Bruno thought that Erin and Maks make great music together and they played it well and should be in the final. Their score was 25 for a total of 53.

Evan and Anna were dancing a futuristic Cha Cha. They had to keep the dance cool and modern instead of flirty as the usual dance should be. They translated their routine to the judges very well. As they returned to the present, Len said that Evan has had a bit of luck tonight as he was able to dance stiff like he sometimes does and he was confused. Bruno said that the dance was Mr. Spock meets Barbarella in the next generation. Carrie Ann found Evan very committed to his character and he danced the dance well. They received 26 which made a total of 53 for tonight.

Last up with a 1950′s Paso doble was Nicole and Derek. They were having a very difficult time trying to make their Paso during rehearsal, but once again they pulled it off! It was the best dance of the night by far and they received a well deserved standing ovation.  Bruno said the beauty and the rebel in a feisty passionate performance. Carrie Ann laughed and said she couldn’t believe they could do that and Len said that it is not his nature to be nice about two dances in one night but there was nothing he could say bad about their performance.  Their second score was a perfect 30 for a total of 59!
