Last night meant double the pressure, double the intensity and double the joy. The stage was set for the semi-finals, but for one of the contenders tonight it was curtains! Tonight’s Dancing With the Stars results show marked the first of three weeks of the Dancing With the Stars college competition, in which dance teams of 8-10 members from two universities competed against one another in a formation ballroom showdown. The fan favorite Dance Center, with judge Len Goodman and Dancing With the Stars alums Kenny Mayne and Jerry Rice returned and the world famous band Gipsy Kings performed their flamenco-flavored rendition of You’ve Got a Friend in Me, the iconic signature song for Disney Pixar’s Toy Story franchise and the upcoming Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 3. With all of that going on I almost forgot the most important part of the show, who went home tonight? Keep reading to find out!
The show began with Len’s critique of the two dances last night and he wasn’t kind…perhaps he was wearing his undies too tight again tonight as his knickers were definitely tied in a knot! He loved both of Nicole’s dances especially their 1950′s Paso doble in which he called a marriage made in heaven. The dance he requested to see again was the 50′s inspired Paso, of course!
Next, the world famous band Gipsy Kings performed You’ve Got a Friend in Me as pros Tony, Cheryl, Dmitry and Kym accompanied them on the dance floor in a Paso Doble along with cartoon characters from the newest movie.
Dance Center returned and the guys went through each competitor. I loved the phrase my jigglyparts.com in which Niecy is the founder and Chad getting a promo for Chad stick for Chad’s soft lips. Very funny stuff guys!
Finally some results were revealed on Dancing With the Stars with two couples learning their fate. The first couple definitely in next weeks semi-finals was Nicole and Derek and the first couple in the bottom two was Chad and Cheryl Burke.
This week in the first ever College championship dance-off, troops from Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana) and University of California San Diego (UCSD) faced off on the floor, with 50 students from each school in attendance to cheer them on. USCD received 24 points from the judges and Purdue received 22.
The group Gipsy Kings came back to perform their internationally celebrated hit Bamboleo. The group consists of two bands of brothers, the Reyes (Nicolas, Canut, Paul, Patchai, Andre) and the Baliardos (Tonino, Paco, Diego).
Dance Center returned again and this time their funniest comment was that Erin and Maks always argue and bicker like spoiled kids on a rant for not getting sugar or their pony ride! They feel Niecy should win as she is the hungriest and the hungriest should always win!
Back to the results, the next couple in the semi finals on Dancing With the Stars was Evan and Anna. Erin and Maks and Niecy and Louis awaited their fate and after a commercial break host Tom Bergeron announced that the next couple who are definitely in next week’s semi-finals was Erin and Maks. Niecy and Louis were in the bottom two with Chad and Cheryl and this week Niecy and Louis were going home. BOO!
