Karina Smirnoff, formerly a dance pro on ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars, wants to give private dance lessons to former DWTS competitor, Kate Gosselin. Despite the fact that Gosselin was a bit rough around the edges on the dance floor and her own DWTS partner, Tony Dovolani, walked out on her at one point, Smirnoff likes Gosselin’s authenticity and thinks she could teach the Kate plus 8 star a thing or two. Karina Smirnoff wants to have a go at teaching Kate Gosselin how to strut her stuff on the dance floor. The former Dancing With the Stars dance pro thinks the Kate plus 8 star has something genuine and fun about her that could translate well in the ballroom. And Smirnoff isn’t buying into the rumors that Gosselin was a diva on the set of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars either. ”I think Kate is very real — I love that about her!” Smirnoff says. “I respect the fact that she says what she thinks. I think a lot of people in the entertainment industry play the part instead of being who they really are. I think Kate did not play into that — she remained herself. She’s a mom, she’s a business woman, and I respect that a lot.”
Smirnoff thinks that despite Gosselin’s lack of dance talent, she was still a joy to watch on season 10 of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars. “Maybe she wasn’t the best dancer on Dancing With the Stars, but she tried her best and she was fun to watch. She did everything she could. Obviously, Dancing With the Stars is very demanding because of the schedule and you have such a limited amount of time to learn everything,” Smirnoff says.
So, if Smirnoff were to have some one-on-one time with the Kate plus 8 star, what would be her first piece of advice? “If she wants to continue dancing she should continue to dance with her feelings and emotions,” Smirnoff says.. “She is a very deep woman, and she has a lot of emotional education in her so let that come out in the dance moves.”
