A new crop of 17 amazing chefs will duke it out for the title of Top Chef, with competitors being eliminated every week. The winning contestant will also receive $125,000 courtesy of Dial Nutriskin, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, and a culinary showcase at the Annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.
Since Top Chef‘s seventh season will be located in the nation’s capital, it’s only fitting that the Bravo reality show would feature special guest appearances by All-American heroes. Be on the lookout for Apollo Astronaut (and recent Dancing with the Stars competitor) Buzz Aldrin, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, White House chef Sam Kass, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, Congressman Aaron Schock of Illinois, Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, CIA Director Leon Panetta, and NBC White House Correspondent Savannah Guthrie, among others.
The 17 Top Chef contestants will compete in two tasks each episode that test their basic culinary knowledge as well as their creativity and uniqueness as a chef. In addition to preparing gourmet meals, the competing chefs must also prove their customer service, management, and teamwork skills or else they’ll be asked to “pack up their knives” and leave the competition.
