Chris Daughtry, fourth place finisher on season 5 of American Idol, has announced on his website that he and his wife, Deanna, will welcome twins this fall. The couple already has two children, an 11-year old adopted son named Griffin and a 13-year old daughter named Hannah from a previous relationship of Deanna’s. This November, they’ll add two more children to their brood with the arrival of their twins.
The road to get pregnant was not an easy one for the American Idol runner-up and his wife. Four years ago, Deanna underwent a partial hysterectomy so the couple opted for IVF–in vitro fertilization–to conceive the babies. Once the twins were conceived, the embryos were passed to a gestational surrogate who will carry them until their arrival in November.
The American Idol star and his wife are thrilled to welcome two more children to their growing family. In a personal statement on his website, the Daughtry lead singer told fans, “Deanna and I are overjoyed about this double blessing. Thank you for your expressions of love and support and for respecting for our privacy during this special time.”
