Survivor: Africa winner, Ethan Zohn, received some great news recently regarding his battle with cancer. Zohn has been battling a rare form of Hodgkin’s Disease since last year and, after undergoing a risky stem cell transplant, he recently received a great report from his doctors that the cancer is in remission. His girlfriend (and Survivor: Amazon winner), Jenna Morasca, shares the good news about Zohn’s clean bill of health…
Ethan Zohn, winner of Survivor: Africa, has been battling a rare form of Hodgkin’s Disease for almost a year. Last August, Zohn thought his chemotherapy treatment had worked, only to later find out that the cancer was still in his system. ”The last clean scan we got was good but then we had to enter the stem cell transplant, which was quite a long and daunting process,” his girlfriend, Jenna Morasca says. This time around though, the news from doctors is much more promising.
“A few weeks ago, we got his first clean CT scan,” says Morasca. “Now we can officially call him ‘in remission.’ We were so nervous for this test because good news on this test meant we could start our lives again.” The good news came to the Survivor winners in April from a nurse. Morasca says, ”both Ethan and I jumped up and hugged her! I cannot begin to explain the happiness and relief we felt.”
Upon receiving the good news, the couple took a much-needed vacation to Walt Disney World. Now that the cancer is behind him, Morasca tells PEOPLE magazine that Zohn is ready to move forward. “Ethan says he is just excited to start living again and enjoying every precious moment. We wanted to come out of this stronger people with more appreciation for each other and the world – and that’s exactly what happened,” she says.
