Wife Swap: Herrington And Trevino Families

May 21, 2010 07:25 PM by Lisa Princ

Tonight on an all new Wife Swap on ABC, we’ll meet the Herrington and Trevino Families. With one family obsessed with low riding and the other obsessed with sheltering their children, there is sure to be some drama here! Keep reading for all the details!

First up tonight on Wife Swap on ABC, we met the Herrington family. Lori, Jim and their four children live in an RV and do traveling shows as a family. They believe in a very wholesome lifestyle, which includes sheltering their children from the real world. These poor children barely have any fun, have no friends, and their twenty year old daughter has never been on an unsupervised date.

Next we met the Trevino family on Wife Swap on ABC. Tara and Chris believe in “keeping it real” and basically sharing everything with their children. Their five girls are allowed to dress however they like, and to make matters worse this family is obsessed with low riding vehicles and shows, which are not appropriate for these children. Tara, instead of taking care of her children all day, spends most of it in bed while Chris is spending time with the girls.

The swap actually goes fairly well for a change, with the exception of Chris and Lori butting heads about the low riding, which Lori feels is not good family fun, or clean fun at least! However, no matter what she tried she could not get Chris to see this, but by the end of the swap she did manage to get him to do some clean shows with his girls. On the flip side, Tara was able to get through to Jim and show him that he was not being a very good father. He was very distant and his children were upset by this, so she decided to get him involved in different activities that his children were interested in. By the end of the week, Jim even agreed to let his twenty year old out on an unsupervised date!

At the table meeting, Jim admitted to everyone that he was not a great father and vowed that Tara showed him the err of his ways and he would not go back. After the swap, the Herrington family started to spend more quality time with their children and Jim continued to be involved in their lives. At the Trevino household, Tara started take on more responsibility at home realizing how much Chris really does for them. Looks like this swap paid off in the end for both families!

Be sure to tune in next Friday at 8 pm EST for another episode of Wife Swap on ABC.

What really disappointed me was the fact that the trevino family took away nothing from the other family. Whenever the Herrington’s had something to say, the Trevinos would just get all defensive and shutdown by saying, “we’re just keeping it real.” Anytime they received criticism they would reject it and accuse the herringtons of being closed minded when they themselves were the ones rejecting any suggestions. It was honestly frustrating to see how ignorant and brainwashed the whole family is – to the point of actually believing that they are completely open-minded. Basically they’re definition of being “open-minded” is being trash. So if you don’t accept a trashy lifestyle then you’re close minded. I honestly feel bad at how illogical the family thinks. The herringtons were the only ones who had an open mind. They actually took time to reflect and see where they made mistakes and took the time and effort to correct the mistakes. Dear Trevinos, You can keep living in your delusional world, but you’re definitely not “keeping it real.” Hopefully one day you’ll fall back into reality and realize how disconnected from it you really are.
