Despite the fact that he suffered a minor stroke earlier this week, Bret Michaels is determined to attend the live season finale of NBC‘s Celebrity Apprentice tomorrow night. A rep for the rocker says that assuming the doctors give Michaels the ok, he will be in attendance for the final boardroom showdown. Keep reading for more details…
It’s down to two finalists on NBC‘s Celebrity Apprentice: former Poison frontman and Rock of Love star, Bret Michaels and actress Holly Robinson Peete. There’s been some question over whether or not Michaels would be able to make it to the live season finale due to recent health problems, but the rocker has set his mind on being there. A few weeks ago, Michaels was admitted to the ICU after suffering a brain hemorrhage and now, just days after being released, he’s back in the hospital from a warning stoke and newly discovered hole in his heart. Still, all of that is not enough to keep him from facing off against Peete in the boardroom.
Regarding the finale of NBC‘s Celebrity Apprentice, a rep for Michaels says ”As far as I know, Bret will be there unless his doctors tell him otherwise. We’re cautiously optimistic that he will attend the finale. But ultimately, it’s up to his doctors.”
His neurosurgeon, Dr. Zabramski says, “Without a doubt he is very determined to get healthy and make a 100 percent recovery. Medically speaking it is a fantastic attitude both mentally and physically for him to have. However, Bret’s brain and body are not quite 100 percent yet, especially with the hole found in his heart.”
According to another specialist (who has not treated Michaels), it might be ok for the Celebrity Apprentice finalist to fly despite his condition. ”Being on a blood thinner – which is one treatment that can be offered in the interim while they decide what to do [about the hole in his heart] – does give him some protection, so he probably could fly,” Dr. Siller, who has not treated the rocker, tells PEOPLE. “As long as he’s on the blood thinners, that offers him significant protection against another stroke even with the hole not being closed.”
