Apolo Anton Ohno, season 4 winner of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars, is rooting for a fellow Olympian to take home the mirrorball trophy. Ohno is openly supporting Evan Lysacek in this week’s DWTS season finale. It turns out he hasn’t been cheering for Lysacek all season though. Keep reading to find out which celeb he was hoping would win before he/she got sent home…
Olympic speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno certain understands the pressure of competing on ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars. In season 4, Ohno danced his way to the finish, taking home the mirrorball trophy with partner Julianne Hough. He’s also very supportive of fellow athletes it seems, as evidenced by his support of Olympic gold medalist, Evan Lysacek. “I’m supporting Evan,” Ohno told PEOPLE magazine this weekend. “I think Evan is going to do great. I heard the odds are a little bit against him, but if we could gamble on it I’d put money on him here in Vegas. I’’d try to sway the vote and just Twitter like crazy.â€
It turns out though that Lysacek hasn’t always been the celeb that Ohno was hoping would win it all on this season of ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars. Ohno admits that he was originally rooting for another star to take home the trophy, until that person got eliminated recently. “I was supporting Chad Ochocinco,” Ohno said. “I’m a big fan of him but he got axed.”
Once Ochocinco was booted from ABC‘s Dancing With the Stars, it didn’t take long for Ohno–also an Olympic gold medalist–to switch his vote to Lysacek. ”For me, Evan is a fellow Olympian. You’ve got to support your guys,†Ohno said.
