Bret Michaels finally received some good news this week when he was crowned the winner of NBC‘s Celebrity Apprentice on Sunday night. The rocker, who suffered an appendectomy, brain hemorrhage, and warning stroke, within the past few weeks was ready to party after Sunday’s live finale. Keep reading for more details on Michaels’ big win and how he’s feeling now…
Despite suffering a warning stroke last week, Bret Michaels was ready to party on Sunday night after being crowned the winner of NBC‘s Celebrity Apprentice. ”I’m feeling a little beat up, but I feel great,” Michaels said after the finale. “I’m just glad to be here, and I’m really glad that I won — and you have no idea — inside my soul — how bad I want to throw down and party right now! I want to have a Rock of Love style party right at this moment, but I think I’m just going to hang with my friends and be a little low-key unfortunately for a couple more weeks.”
In the past month, Michaels has been hospitalized for an emergency appendectomy, brain hemorrhage, and warning stroke (which revealed a hole in his heart), but the rocker isn’t letting his medical woes keep him down. His doctors have encouraged him to take it easy, something that isn’t easy for the Celebrity Apprentice champ. ”I’m going to try, but my energy is so up right now… I just want to go rock right now,” he said.
On Sunday night’s finale of NBC‘s Celebrity Apprentice, Michaels faced off against actress Holly Robinson Peete in the boardroom. The rocker says that thinking he was about to be fired was his scariest moment. ”[Donald Trump] was like ‘You’re…’ and I heard the syllable for fired and I was like ‘this can’t be happening’… so I thought this was the sympathy way of getting rid of me and I was like, ‘Oh man, you’re going to dump me!’ And I just kept thinking, ‘Don’t let me down like a bad date!’” Michaels joked.
Trump didn’t fire Michaels after all, hiring him instead and making him the winner of NBC‘s Celebrity Apprentice. The most touching moment to the rocker was ”when they showed my daughter Raine coming up and giving me a big hug.”
Now that Michaels has won the reality competition, he plans to head back out on tour as soon as he gets the doctors’ OK. ”I want to. [Doctors] don’t want me to go at all right now, at least for a couple of weeks to a month, but I want to go this weekend! And we’re going to see what happens,” Michaels says.
