It’s hard to believe another season of American Idol is over, but the season nine showdown between Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox was an exciting one. The finale featured fantastic performances from previous Idol winners, this season’s top 10, and practically every other celebrity under the sun (Christina Aguilera! Alice Cooper! Dane Cook! Bret Michaels! Hall & Oates!), plus a moving and hilarious tribute to judge Simon Cowell. What were your favorite parts of the star-studded season finale?
Regardless of who is crowned champion, American Idol never disappoints when it comes to extravagant productions during their season finales. Season nine was definitely no different! The star-studded event attracted great singers, new and old, that ranged from rock legend Alice Cooper to former American Idol champs, Carrie Underwood and Kris Allen, to Alanis Morrisette and Hall & Oates. Where else can you expect to see the BeeGees on the same stage with Bret Michaels? Or Janet Jackson and William Hung? Only American Idol!
The season finale kicked off with a rocking performance of School’s Out from the Top 10 joined by Alice Cooper. Later, Siobhan Magnus and Aaron Kelly were joined by the BeeGees to perform How Deep Is Your Love.  Kris Allen performed his new single, The Truth, and Michael Lynche was joined by Michael McDonald to sing Takin’ It To the Streets. Comedian Dane Cook stopped by American Idol to sing a funny little ditty mocking Simon Cowell‘s previous insults on the show. The ladies from this season’s Top 10 were joined by Christina  Aguilera for a performance of Fighter, before Aguilera sang a newer single on her own, and Hall & Oates accompanied the men from the Top 10 for a medley.
There were also performances from Crystal Bowersox and Alanis Morrisette, Carrie Underwood, Casey James and Bret Michaels, Lee Dewyze and Chicago, and General Larry Platt (Pants on the Ground) and William Hung (She Bangs). American Idol winners from seasons past, as well as some of the top finalists from seasons one through 8, also graced the stage during the finale. Janet Jackson joined the Top 10, as did Joe Cocker. And of course, Paula Abdul was on hand to pay tribute to Simon Cowell‘s long reign as the grumpy (but accurate) judge.
With so many amazing performances, we want to know what your favorites are! Which did you love? Which did you hate? Who do you wish would’ve showed up at the finale? Who do you wish would’ve stayed home? We want to hear your thoughts at our American Idol message boards! And be sure to check out SirLinksALot: American Idol for more Idol news.
