American Idol star Simon Cowell helped make one little girl’s dying wish come true this week. Five-year old Bethany Fenton was given the opportunity to sing for Cowell before losing her battle with a brain tumor. Keep reading for more details on how the wish was granted, what Bethany’s family says about the moment, and how Cowell feels about her passing…
Five-year old, Bethany Fenton’s final wish was to perform in front of American Idol judge Simon Cowell. Her dream became a reality on June 5th when Bethany appeared before Cowell at the Britain’s Got Talent studios to sing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” After the song, Bethany said, “I loved them all….Simon let me sing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ to him. He’s so nice and I love him.”
The young girl was diagnosed with a severe anaplastic astrocytoma brain tumor last year. Despite undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the brain tumor continued to grow until it eventually claimed 5-year old Bethany Fenton’s life on June 8th. Upon receiving news about her death, Simon Cowell was devastated.
A rep for the American Idol said, ”He is really upset, he said what a beautiful little girl she was. He is just so sad, and sad for the whole family. She was a very special little girl and Simon was so touched when she sang for him. He was happy that he was able to do a special something on Saturday night to give her a few precious moments but it is so sad and his heart goes out to Bethany’s mum and dad and he is thinking of them.”
A spokesman for Bethany’s family says they were delighted that Cowell was so willing to meet her request. ”Her dad said that she had done what she always wanted to do, meet Simon Cowell and sing to him,” the spokesman said. “She had achieved her big ambition and was now ready to depart this earth.”
