Building homes for the less fortunate is a far cry from dating 25 men on national television and Jillian Harris says she welcomes the change. Harris, formerly a star on both ABC‘s The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, is looking forward to her new role on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Keep reading for more details on Harris’ new gig and how it differs from her reality TV past…
Jillian Harris is certainly accustomed to being in front of the cameras. The reality TV starlet was a contestant on ABC‘s The Bachelor before starring in her own season of The Bachelorette. Now the interior designer is being given an amazing opportunity to advance her career while giving back to the community as the newest member of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition cast.
Harris is looking forward to being a part of a reality TV show like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition that impacts families in a positive, life-altering way. Her heart for community service stems from her upbringing. “I grew up in a really small town, with a mom who always taught me to give back, that it was our responsibility to help others,†Harris says.
Despite the fact that she found love on The Bachelorette (she is currently engaged to final rose recipient, Ed Swiderski), Harris doesn’t think her stint on the show truly represents her as a person.  “Bachelor was just something that happened to me. It wasn’t anything I was looking for or wanting. It was a fluke, a lark. It was fun to do,†Harris says. “I got to travel around the world, work with great people who are still friends, and kiss five guys in one day! But it’s not really who I am. Extreme Makeover is much more who I am.â€
