Dance Your Ass Off: Mel B. Dishes On Being The New Host

June 21, 2010 09:00 AM by Nancy Floyd

The second season of Dance Your Ass Off is two weeks in and new host, Mel B., is loving her new gig! No stranger to reality TV, the former Spice Girl came in second place on season five of Dancing with the Stars. These days, she’s thrilled to help contestants drop pounds while having fun. Keep reading for more details on Mel B.’s new hosting duties and what’s up next for her…

The hardest thing for Mel B. about becoming the new host of Dance Your Ass Off was replacing former host, Marissa Janet Winokur. The former Spice Girl stepped into the role of reality TV host for the second season of the dance/weight-loss competition, replacing her pal. “She’s a really good friend of mine,” Mel B. says about Winokur. “But this season is a lot different, with new producers, etc…. I was told to just be me, which is a great job to have!”

Although the show is only two episodes in thus far, things are starting to heat up. As the contestants struggle to lose weight, overcome emotional obstacles, and dance their way to a healthier lifestyle, emotions are running high in the competition. “The contestants want to dramatically change their lives, to become better, healthier people. So that means letting go of old habits, old indulgences,” Mel B. says.

After her hosting duties on Dance Your Ass Off are through, Mel B. can be seen on another reality show focused on her private life. “It’s set for September,” Mel B. says of the new Style Network show. “You’ll see how my family life is, and how we cope—three kids with three different fathers! We’re an open book, so what you see is what you get.”
