America’s Got Talent: Orlando Auditions!

June 22, 2010 07:01 PM by Candace Young

America’s biggest talent search continues it’s fifth season on NBC tonight, as host Nick Cannon, along with judges Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan, and Howie Mandel, take the America’s Got Talent search to sunny Orlando Florida! The evening starts magically…

Frankie Elliston, who is a server at Chilis is the first hopeful on stage in Orlando. He will be doing magic, and asks Nick to help him out by inspecting his spool of thread. He eats some thread and says he will make it come out of another orifice – he grosses the audience out by pulling it out of a tiny hole in his skin near his belly button! Nick testifies that there is actually blood on the thread! The crowd chants, “Frankie, Frankie!”  Piers is mystified, but gives him a ‘yes’, Sharon gives him a ‘no’, and Howie puts him through to Vegas!

Other acts going through include another magician with a cute blond assistant, a group of dancers that look like transformers,  a knife thrower named Max, and a woman who paints herself!

A 16 year-old named Simeon, who calls himself Amadeus, tells the judges he is at Dutch boy from Orlando! He performs on the piano dressed as Mozart – and just might be as talented! The crowd and judges are blown away. Piers tells him he has more talent than any act he’s seen this season. He goes through with three ‘yes’s!

Tiahazze Cherelle begins a song and dance routine which, unfortunately, involves removing her clothes while singing horribly. She gets buzzed off the stage, and leaves cursing!  Yogi Laser also gets ‘no’s across the board for his bizarre yoga/acrobat dance routine. Fafo, a large man dressed in a boy scout and Hooter’s orange shorts, performs a horrifying striptease to It’s Raining Men! Piers remarks on his ‘small’ talent, and he’s gone!

Studio One Young Beast Society does some impressive group hip hop dance. Piers calls it fresh, Howie comments on the energy, and all three judges say ‘yes’!  72 year-old Russian immigrant, Efim Tabachnikov doesn’t fare so well singing Some Enchanted Evening, as he gets buzzed by Piers and Sharon, although Howie lets him finish.

A male singing group from Miami, but originally from Haiti, takes the stage next. Harmonik performs a moving version of Hallelujah with the audience on their feet and clapping along. The judges are suitably impressed. All three say ‘yes’.

Sponjetta Parish, a singer/songwriter since the age of eleven, sees herself as the next Alicia Keyes. She hits the America’s Got Talent stage to perform an original song, Studio.  It’s not what the judges hoped – they all buzz her before the end of the tune, and send her back to the, well, studio! Nick Cannon gets the crowd on their feet to do the song again! Even with Nick’s help, the buzzers go off!  Sponjetta doesn’t go through, but no one can stop singing her lyrics!
