If you were hoping to see your favorite American Idol contestants on tour this summer, you might be out of luck. The American Idols Live tour kicked off last week, but already several dates have been rescheduled or cancelled altogether. Keep reading for more details about which cities will and won’t feature the tour this summer…
As Reality TV Magazine reported in April, the top 10 contestants on season 9 of American Idol, including winner Lee Dewyze and runner-up Crystal Bowersox, were supposed to hit the road this summer for a 49-city U.S. tour. Given the poor response to this season’s crop of contestants and the overall difficulty that musical tours are having this summer, several of those dates have been changed or cancelled.
The American Idols Live concert scheduled for Bridgeport, Connecticut on September 13th has been rescheduled to this Friday, July 9th. The show originally scheduled in Chicago, Illinois (hometown of winner Lee Dewyze) has been moved from August 30th to August 28th. Fans in Cleveland, Ohio will be disappointed to hear that the concert planned for September 11th has been cancelled altogether. The American Idol top 10 will not be performing in Toronto either; that show, scheduled for September 9th, has been cancelled as well.
It looks like shows in three other cities might also be cancelled as well. The Live Nation website (where tickets are being sold) is showing that concerts in Omaha, Nebraska (August 26th), Buffalo, New York (September 10th), and Kansas City, Missouri (August 25th) are “no longer available.”
