Back at the Palms Casino Resort, it’s time for day two of America’s Got Talent‘s Vegas Week on NBC! There are only eleven spots left for contestants to go to Hollywood, and the acts in Group B will have to vie for them. Judges Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel, and Piers Morgan prepare to watch the danger acts first…
Among the sword-throwing and marital arts, there is an act in which a man walks on broken glass while juggling butcher knives and fire, all while blindfolded! Jeremy who does dangerous bike tricks is also in this group, and says he actually quit one of his jobs to practice. The judges are impressed by his improved act!
Child dancers are up next. Northwest Dance and Acro give Nick Cannon an honorary costume before going on! It’s a tough call between the hip hop and acro group.
Vocal groups are ready to compete. In this category is New Directions, who impressed the judges with their story previously, and the sister with Cystic Fibrosis. Sharon is concerned about the girls handling the stress of going live every week. Piers is not.
The novelty acts hit the stage with painters, jugglers, a balloon-popper (with fire), and another balloon-popper (with playing cards). None of them impress the judges. An impressionist, who failed to excite Piers in the initial audition, is back. Tonight, he acts. This makes Piers and Howie laugh, but Sharon protests that he’s doing a talking mime act! Howie thinks Piers’ advice led the man to stop doing impressions which ruined his act!
Bands are up next and tensely wait their turn. Harmonik from Orlando are in this category. They sang Hallelujah in their audition to get this far, but don’t seem strong tonight. Also in this category is Airpocalypse the rock air band. Some of the others feel they shouldn’t be lumped in with serious musicians, but they are all entertained when the air band performs!
The stand-by male singers are ready to compete for a spot now. They are all feeling the heat as there are a lot of them and only eleven spots for all the categories left. Nate is one of the hopefuls fighting nerves to make a great impression. He does pretty well by my estimation, and has the whole package!
The judges debate over who should get the remaining eleven spots and go live in Hollywood. Finally the decision is made, with Piers commenting that it was the greatest line-up they ever had.
Jeremy the bike guy and the martial arts group go through from the danger category. The little girl hip hop dancers go ahead, but the acro dancers don’t. Luigi cries when he learns he is going to Hollywood. Nate also is chosen! Ronan the impressionist gets the nod as do two of the bands, but not Harmonik. Airpocalypse is selected as well. Sharon cries as she tells New Direction that they didn’t make the cut, but Christina and Ali, the singers who are sisters, get a thumbs up!
The 48 acts are now in place, and the first twelve perform from Hollywood next week!
