Last night on Hell’s Kitchen on FOX, we watched as Fran Klier made her final walk up to the chopping block as she said goodbye to her dream. In the second episode we saw Nilka Hendricks get thrown out during dinner service, but not without putting up a fight. These two lovely ladies both sat down and spoke with us earlier about their experience and time on the show. Keep reading for all the details!
You may be surprised to learn that despite their differences on Hell’s Kitchen, Fran Klier and Nilka Hendricks are good friends and have remained in contact since leaving the show! Here is what the ladies wanted to share with their viewers and fans.
RTVM: Were you both surprised to have been cut last night?
Fran Klier: You know, when it’s your time you just know it. I had a feeling I was going home, so I was not shocked.
Nilka Hendricks: I was surprised. I mean, Chef Ramsay throws people out all the time, but most come back. I was expecting to come back and not have my jacket taken away, that is why I fought so hard. If anything, it was dramatic and I made some good television last night [chuckles].
RTVM: Fran, did you think Benjamin was out to get you?
Fran Klier: I think Benjamin was out to get someone new each week, just going down the line. I don’t think Benjamin has any respect for what we do for a living. It’s funny because we were friends with him upon leaving the show, but we don’t see what you see until you are actually seeing it also. So we got to see and hear what Ben had to say about us behind closed doors for the first time. I can’t believe he would do something like that…I would never do something like that or say those things. Afterward, he had sent me a sweet text message and was thinking “screw you”.
RTVM: Nilka, do you think had you not been kicked out that Benjamin would have targeted you next?
Nilka Hendricks: I am sure he would have and then I would have gone crazy on him. He would have seen Nilka really lose it and go off. There is only so much I can take before being pushed to the limit and he would have done that.
RTVM: What was the biggest disappointment about the show?
Fran Klier: For me, it was that they did not show you everything that goes on behind the scenes. they only show the dramatics, not the friendships being formed. For instance, Nilka and I bonded and became close friends. We live close to one another and are always in contact now. I think it would have been nice if they highlighted some of the friendships along the way.
Nilka Hendricks: I completely agree with Fran.
RTVM: If you could go back, what would you have done differently?
Fran Klier: I would have prepared more for being away from my family for so long. I learned a lot though, and it was a great experience, I would not change it.
Nilka Hendricks: Same here, I would have prepared myself better. I would have stayed focused more as well.
RTVM: What are your future plans?
Fran Klier: I am going to keep my catering business. A lot of people don’t cook because they think they cannot with what they have and I’d like to show them that they can.
Nilka Hendricks: I will continue working in the Retro Lounge and keep cooking. Cooking is what I do, but another passion of mine is music, so I will focus on both. Nothing to fancy for me though [giggles].
RTVM: Any last words for your fans?
Nilka Hendricks: I love you all. You can keep up with me at my website, chefnilkahendricks.com as well as on facebook and twitter.
Fran Klier: Thank you. The fans are amazing, I’ve met such wonderful people and even on a bad day have always had fans routing for me. You can find me on my website as well and get information on my catering there at FranKlier.com.
