‘American Idol,’ ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Score Emmy Nominations

The 2010 Emmy Award nominations were announced today and several reality TV programs and stars are up for the honor. Dancing with the Stars led the pack with four nominations, while American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and Project Runway received two nominations each. Earlier this morning, the nominations for the 2010 Emmy Awards were announced and several of our favorite reality TV shows, hosts, and choreographers received nods. There are four categories where reality TV shows or stars received nominations: Outstanding Reality-Competition Program, Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Reality Program, and Outstanding Host of Reality or Reality-Competition Program.

In the Outstanding Host category, the nominees should come as no surprise. Ryan Seacrest is up for his work on American Idol, along with Heidi Klum for Project Runway, Tom Bergeron for Dancing with the Stars, Jeff Probst for Survivor, and Phil Keoghan for Amazing Race.

Nominees for the Outstanding Reality-Competition Program include American Idol, Project Runway, Dancing With The Stars, Amazing Race, and Top Chef. Nominees for Outstanding Reality Program are Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, Dirty Jobs, Antiques Roadshow, Mythbusters, Jamie Oliver’s Food Nation and the new hit Undercover Boss.

Lastly, in the category for Outstanding Choreography, stars from So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With the Stars received two nominations apiece. From So You Think You Can Dance, Mia Michaels was nominated for her contemporary routine “Gravity/Addiction” and Stacey Tookey received a nod for her contemporary routine titled “Fear.” From Dancing With The Stars, Derek Hough received two nominations, one for Futuristic Paso Doble/Living On Video & Quickstep/Anything Goes routine and one for a Paso Doble/Malaquena routine along with choreographer Chelsie Higtower. Congratulations to all the nominees!
